Self-Regulation and Cognitive Emotion Regulation among Adolescents

The present correlational study aimed to examine the relationship between self-regulation and cognitive emotion regulation strategies in adolescents. A sample of 718 adolescents, comprising both boys girls, from public private educational institutes Faisalabad, was conveniently selected for analysis. participants completed Adolescents Self-Regulation Inventory (ASRI) Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ). significant but negative with one maladaptive strategy identified. Additionally, it found that long-term exhibited a several adaptive strategies, including refocus on planning, positive refocusing, reappraisal, putting into perspective. Multiple Regression Analysis further revealed only emerged as predictor other blame (a strategy) aforementioned techniques. Notably, short-term identified reappraisal. Gender differences were observed through independent t-tests. This contributes valuable insights existing literature holds relevance school psychologists. Importantly, findings suggest mindfulness-based interventions have potential enhance offering promising avenue helping them develop essential skills regulate their emotions behaviors.
